ORRA referees must meet specific fitness and law knowledge standards appropriate to their level. These standards ensure referees are physically capable and have the required knowledge to officiate safely and effectively.
🏃 CRRDF Bronco Fitness Standards
The Bronco test is a shuttle run fitness assessment that measures cardiovascular endurance and recovery. All referees must complete this test annually.

About the Bronco Test
The Bronco test consists of five 20-meter and five 40-meter shuttles (total 300m). It tests both speed and endurance recovery - essential for refereeing rugby matches.
Testing Schedule: Pre-season (usually February/March) and mid-season retest available.
📚 CRRDF Law Test Standards
Law test assessments ensure referees have current knowledge of rugby laws and their application. Tests are conducted online through the official platform.

Law Test Information
Format: Online multiple-choice assessment covering all aspects of rugby laws
Duration: Typically 60-90 minutes
Content: Based on current World Rugby laws and interpretations
Preparation: Study materials and practice tests available through World Rugby and ORRA resources

Standards are reviewed annually and may be updated to reflect changes in CRRDF (Community Rugby Referee Development Framework) guidelines or World Rugby requirements. Any changes will be communicated well in advance.
